Candle Care & Safety

Every PLAMYA candle has its own form and burning behaviour. Before lighting, always read the product-specific instructions provided on the product page and with your candle. Burn-cycle limits, holder requirements and expected wax movement vary between designs. Where product-specific instructions differ from this guide, always follow the more restrictive instruction.

BEFORE LIGHTING

Remove all packaging

Trim the wick to approximately 5 mm

Place the candle upright on a stable, level and heat-resistant surface

Use the holder or tray specified for your candle

Keep away from children, pets, draughts, heat sources and anything that can catch fire

Keep the candle and surrounding area clear of matches, wick trimmings and other debris

Do not light a candle that is cracked, damaged or unstable

WHILE BURNING

Never leave a burning candle unattended

Keep the candle within sight at all times

Follow the burn-cycle limit stated for the specific candle

Never touch or move a burning candle

Do not move the candle, holder or tray while the wax is liquid or hot

Never add fragrance oils, essential oils or other materials to the wax

Never use water or another liquid to extinguish the flame

Extinguish the candle immediately if:

the flame becomes unusually large or unstable

the candle produces persistent smoke or excessive soot

the candle becomes unstable

wax escapes beyond the protective holder or tray

molten wax approaches the edge of the tray

the candle behaves differently from the supplied instructions

CHOOSING THE RIGHT SUPPORT

Taper candles must be secured upright in a stable, heat-resistant holder that grips the base firmly. Always protect surrounding surfaces from dripping wax.

Sculptural candles must be placed on a large, stable, non-combustible and heat-resistant tray capable of containing overflowing wax. Their form may change permanently when lit.

See the relevant product page for the exact burn cycle and additional instructions.

EXTINGUISHING AND RELIGHTING
Use a candle snuffer where practical and take care not to splash molten wax.

After extinguishing:

check that the flame and wick glow are fully extinguished

allow the candle and wax to cool completely

trim the cooled wick to approximately 5 mm before relighting

remove wick trimmings and debris once the wax has solidified

Do not relight a candle that has become unstable or significantly damaged.

STORAGE

Store candles upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep them protected from dust and out of reach of children and pets.

HANDMADE VARIATIONS

Every PLAMYA candle is made and hand-finished in London in small batches. Small variations in colour, weight, surface and form are part of the making process.

Do not light a candle that appears cracked, unstable or materially damaged. If you are uncertain, contact PLAMYA before use.
