I’m Tanya, a designer based in London and the founder of PLAMYA.
PLAMYA grew from a long-standing interest in design, interiors and the small details that shape the feeling of a home.
Before starting the brand, I spent five years working as a graphic designer, developing packaging, visual identities and digital design. That experience shaped the way I approach PLAMYA today. I pay close attention to colour, proportion, presentation and the way every detail works together.
My interest in interiors became particularly strong while living in the Netherlands. I started noticing how much character could come from simple objects: a wooden table, a carefully chosen candle holder, candles burning over dinner. These details stayed with me and gradually influenced the idea behind PLAMYA.
Candles were already a constant in my own home. I loved using them at dinner and seeing how their light changed the atmosphere of a room. At the same time, I struggled to find taper candles with the colours, finish and presentation I wanted. I wanted elegant forms, considered colour palettes and beautiful packaging. Pieces that would feel at home on a dining table and equally appropriate as a gift.
That became the starting point for PLAMYA.
Starting with colour
The first collection was built around tall taper candles and a small palette of carefully developed shades. Colour quickly became central to the brand.
Today, the palette has grown into a wider selection of deep, earthy and muted tones. I develop each shade individually, paying close attention to how it works alongside the rest of the collection. The colours are designed to mix naturally, giving you the freedom to create combinations that suit your own space.
That idea also led to Build Your Set. You can choose one of the curated PLAMYA palettes or build a set of six individually, candle by candle. It creates space to experiment with colour and see your own combination come together.
Made in London
Every PLAMYA candle is made by me in London.
I develop the colours and wax compositions, pour each candle and remove it from its mould. Every piece is then refined and finished by hand. I prepare the base and wick, test the burn and package the finished candles myself.
The process is deliberately hands-on. A new shape can require many rounds of adjustments before the wax, wick and form work together as intended. Taper candles are developed with particular attention to their burn and controlled wax flow. Sculptural candles require their own formulations to preserve texture and detail.
Packaging receives the same attention. My background in design made the experience of opening a PLAMYA box an important part of the product from the beginning. The materials, typography, arrangement and final presentation are all considered alongside the candle itself.
What comes next
PLAMYA is still growing.
New candle forms, colours and sculptural collections are currently in development. Each one continues the same interest in objects that bring colour, texture and atmosphere into a space.
The longer-term vision reaches across the home. PLAMYA is gradually developing its own world of interior objects, shaped by the same attention to materials, colour and detail that began with the first candles.
For now, every candle continues to be developed, made and finished by hand in London — one piece at a time.
